Earlier this week I went to see Oz the Great and Powerful, I really enjoyed it although clearly not as much as the lady sitting behind me who was in tears by the end.
The new movie tells us the story of how the Wizard (played by James Franco) in the original movie actually got to Oz in the first place and gives us a little of the back story on the Witches. You follow the Yellow Brick road, find out why the Lion is so cowardly and discover the origins of the Scarecrow but if the Tin Man was referenced I missed it so please drop me an email if you spotted it.
However there is one glaringly obvious signature Oz item that was definitely missing and that is the Ruby Slippers.  The Wicked Witch of the East and later Dorothy's Ruby Slippers could possibly be the world's most iconic shoe (I think they are tied with Cinderella's Glass Slipper) but sadly they were not in the movie because MGM rather than Disney own their rights, it's a shame they weren't part of the story I would really like to have seen how they recreated them but since the Witch is now Ruby Slipper-less I thought I'd give her a hand put together a little list of some perfect substitutes for the role.
Modern alternatives to Dorothy's Ruby Slipper's Wizard of Oz

Ruby Slipper Substitutes

1. Lance by Jimmy Choo, £475
2. V Neck Patent by Christian Louboutin, £465
3. Skyscraper III by Melissa for Vivienne Westwood, £195
(on sale at Kurt Geiger for £99)
4. Skull Pumps by Alexander McQueen, £625
5. 'Tribute' pump by Saint Laurent, £566

What do you think? If you were the Wicked Witch which would you chose?
