Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012-2013

In the last post we took a look at the Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection now lets take a little peek at the all new Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall collection. This collection designed by Julie de Libran credits the Disney world ride "It's a Small World" as it's inspiration (I've been on that ride a few times and I have to say I don't really see it).

Pre-Fall continues celebrating the collar this time dressing it in jewels or fur, the collection's shoe's either sported shining pointed metallic toe caps or were covered in fur (I've never really understood why people make shoes in materials that will be ruined minutes after leaving the house).

Does that Beret remind anyone else of Dior?

The now staple Sprouse Leopard print is once again present this time in shades of grey but the collection also featured a very pretty trompe l’oeil print of a military uniform.

The Dolce and Gabbana Spring Summer show was as always a celebration of all that is Italian actually more specifically Sicilian, the 2012 show celebrated an integral part of Sicilian culture....Food!

Clothing was splashed with large prints of vegetables and as weird as that sounds it really works, however that's not what we're looking at today. Today we focus on the earrings; the show featured multiple styles; hoops with mini chillie's and garlic, tomatoes with golden coins hanging from them, hanging peppers and aubergines (eggplants if you prefer) to name but a few but out of all my favourite's are the pasta chandeliers

The enameled Farfelle pasta earrings are decorated with golden coins featuring religious imagery and are thought to be priced at £231.

Prada Spring Summer 2012 Shoes.

A strong contender for my personal favourite

Let me start this post by saying I adore this shoe collection.

The Prada Spring Summer Shoe collection features shiny patent leathers in colours so bright they are worthy of a Marvel hero with the occassional shoe being the total opposite with sweet candy coloured pastels but the colours although beautiful are not their best feature I give that honor to the details.

The shoes modeled on classic Hot Rod cars feature retro flames, shiny chrome details and tail lights (although I don't think the tail lights actually light up) even the flats don't miss out with one pair of sandals sporting a pair of dice alas not fluffy.

Prices on the shoes vary but are thought to be in the £650-890 range.

Louis Vuitton Sues The Hangover 2

Phineas T. Barnum once said 'There's no such thing as bad publicity' if that were true then Warner Brothers hit the mother load with The Hangover 2 who have now added Louis Vuitton to their long list of lawsuits in relation to the movie.

Vuitton are suing the movie over the use of a fake Vuitton bag after it identified as being one of their own. Vuitton suggests the brand has been damaged and are pursuing a percentage of the movies profits.

On a personal level I have to admit the use of fakes in movies and TV bothers me, surely the prop department would be able able to use it enough in other movies and shows to justify the cost, that is of course if they didn't destroy it and also assuming that they do indeed pay full retail for them and they aren't discounted or gifted to the studio. However what makes this movie so special to pursue damages why not "Friends" with Rachel leaving for Paris to work for Louis Vuitton with her fake bag slug over her shoulder, I'm sure that would receive a frosty reception on the first day. What about "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock although I'm not too sad about that one seeing as it ends up in the water. How about Mean Girls or White Chicks (yes I watch you awesome movies I know lol) to name just a few.

Where do you draw the line that it it's ok to use a fake in one place and not in another?

Last winter I was caught out unprepared, you see I'm a summer girl and I live in denial of impending winter until there is literally no denying it this year with the news of this winter being worse than the last I'm trying to prepare a little better and so I been coat browsing. I discovered this coat from Coast which I thought was just adorable it's called Leticia and retails for £195. It also comes with a black patent leather tie but personally feel it looks better without it. Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012

I've just watched the new Louis Vuitton Spring Summer show and I'm happy to say I like it! It's been a long time since I was able to say striaght away that I like a show the last couple of season for me have been slow to no starters for me but this one I see a lot of potential shopping.

My first favourite is the collection is pictured above at this point I'm not quite sure what material it is but I'll call it lace for now, the collection was shown in a speedy shape along with a vertical lockit, horizontal lockit and lockit clutch.

My second favourite is the metallic lattice bags I would have liked to see this in a monogram pattern lattice but they are still cute as they are

Again there was a lot of alligator both on full bags and as leather accents and I see some inspiration from seasons gone by in the new bags

Mulberry Spring Summer 2012 Key Looks

Mulberry converted Claridges their fashion week home into a little taste of the Great British Seaside starting right at the front door with the classic british ice cream van. Models walked through a giant fun fair style mouth to the sounds of "oh I do like to be beside the seaside"
Clothing was light and on occassion wispy, the colour palette a range of pastels and candy inspired tones. One essential item for the British summer time appeared on the runway in a number of variations and that is the raincoat, Mulberry makes the raincoat fashionable.

Make sure you pay close attention to the bejewelled and embelished outfits and you'll catch a peek at the gorgeous matching Lily bag “It was inspired by the neon-festooned lights at Blackpool and I was looking at pictures of when I was growing up in the Seventies and holidays meant sitting on the beach with a cagoule on. It’s still very rooted in outerwear and she’s still very Mulberry and that English girl,” Mulberry’s creative director Emma Hill explained.

In all the Mulberry Spring Summer in my opinion does a great job of carrying it's theme and inspiration into fantastic, fashionable and wearable pieces, there's only two things missing for the full seaside experience.......newspaper wrapped fish and chips and a kiss me quick hat.

Buyer Beware

We all know the warnings about buying designer goods online and the many tips and advice you can follow to help you make your decision, one of the main being if the price is too good to be true then it probably is. With this in mind I was quite interested to read in WWD today about Richemont's case against Concept Designs Unlimited Inc (supplier) and Daniel Markus Inc (seller).
Richemont, owners of a number of huge jewellery brands, were awarded damages of $37.4 million after it was discovered the above named company's had been selling counterfeits of their products from Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. To add insult to injury the company were not only manufacturing the fakes but selling them at authentic full retail price and provided what appeared to be certificates of authenticity.

It's news like this that really brings home again that you can never be to careful when buying goods online, make sure you do all the research you possible can and check that the seller is an authorised dealer, not everyone selling products online (or even on ebay) is out to trick you and take your money but sadly a small number are so remember...check it once, check it twice and check it again.

Louis Vuitton Illustre collection.

Louis Vuitton small leather goods decorated with vintage advertising have been available in limited quantities for the past few years, this month see's the release of this years collection featuring a new range of illustrations.

The illustre collection is available on Monogram, Damier, Damier Graphite and Damier Azur canvas each canvas has it's own matching lining that carries on through the collection. The Damier is lined in Lilac, Damier Azur is lined is a beautiful sunshine lemon for the Monogram canvas there are two options; one feature's the hot air balloon illustration and has blue lining the other a rose pink with a character illustration from 1909.

Leather accents on the Mini Pochette which are usually vachetta are coloured to match the associated lining for the canvas and drawing, the Mini Pochette is once again available in Monogram, Damier Azur and Damier (not shown illustration matches Monogram).

If you'd prefer just a small accent piece from the collection there is a small canvas bag charm priced at £140. In addition to the above pieces the illustre (illustration) collection also features a small ring agenda this one of the few pieces availble in Damier Graphite also.
Damier graphite has the smallest collection of goods however illustration on graphite is a new addition to the collection as a whole, the Damier Graphite features a drawing a of a young boy creating a imaginary toy car using a number of Louis Vuitton trunks and cases this is availble on an organiser and small ring agenda cover.

On a personal note......

Dear Readers,

If you're still here I thank so you much for reading all this time and sticking by I'll Take Both as lately I've been a very bad blogger, I feel like I owe you an explanation.

The first (and smaller) of the two main obstructions to my postings has been that my partner and I have been buying a house. During the last couple of weeks there has been no time for shopping unless it came in the form of tiles, carpets, wallpaper, bathrooms and kitchens. Unfortunately the house buying process hit a great big snag when the seller decided to pull out. The house drama isn't over yet so hopefully there'll be a silver lining when we get to then end of it.

The second and larger concern that has taken up most of our time and energy is on a much more serious note and also lends an ulterior motive to this post other than an explanation.

Back in March my partner and I received some very upsetting news that our 8 year old niece had been admitted to hospital suffering from heart failure, after some tests it was decided that she required a heart transplant and she was added to the transplant list. With the wonders of modern medicine she is connected to a machine that actually pumps her heart for her and is taking some of the stress off her own heart. As a complication of the surgery to connect the machine to her heart she has lost the ability to walk, this is not permanent but it's painful and she requires a lot of physio to get her back on her feet although the machine only has a 45 minute battery pack so she can't move around a great deal any way. As I'm sure you can imagine lack of mobility, hospitalisation, medications and hourly check ups is all very frustrating to an 8 year old.

Now that I have explained my absence I have a request. I appreciate that many people have religious or personal feelings about organ donation and I respect your wishes your body is yours to do as wish but for those that have no objections, those have considered organ donation or for those that have never even thought about it if you agree with organ donation please, please take a moment from here to go to your national register and register as an organ donor.

I know it's not a pleasant conversation and I also know it's not something people generally want to think about...until you have to.
Donating your organs after your death can help save the lives of many people in need, should you register for organ donation please do inform your next of kin of your wishes as these are the people that often get the final say.

On that note I'll say goodbye for now and I'll get back to regular posting as soon as I possible can

Apparently the Burberry Foldable sunglasses are not a new idea, my partner claims he had a pair of sunglasses that did this when he was younger, that being so I still think they are genius.

Depending on my bag of the day's size what to do with my sunglasses when not in use poses as a problem, I once broke my favourite pair of Dolce and Gabana sunglasses when they fell off my head so I'm sure you can understand my reluctance to wear them there. Anyway the Burberry foldable sunglasses could very well be the solution to that problem. Gucci Limited Edition Summer Collections

I'm pretty sure that everyone has had a "what the hell did I buy that for?!?!" moment in regards to holiday souvenirs, this year Gucci are kindly offering a helping hand on that front by producing a small collection for handful of holiday destinations

The Gucci summer limited edition collection is now available in four locations; Cannes, Capri, Marbella and Montecarlo. Each collection is colour cordinated, inspired by it's region and has three individual pieces.

The largest piece available is the cute linen tote bag accented with leather trims and a removeable leather pochette in the boutique's colour, the Gucci logo and store location are printed on the bag also in the signature colour.

To compliment the tote bag Gucci have also produced a matching zip around purse and shawl.

Unfortunately these bags and accessories are exclusive to their locations so in order to get them you'll need to take a trip to the boutique, but perhaps that's not really a bad thing.

H and M have recently announced the next designer in their ever successful collaborations is Versace.

The collection in line with those that came before it will be available in 300 stores worldwide and is set for release on 17th November 2011. In addition to the Fall Winter collection Donatella Versace has also designed a pre-spring collection that will release on 19th January 2012 for countries with the H and M on-line shopping ability.

Inspiration for the collection has been taken from the Versace archives and will feature studded leather, silk and colourful prints "I am thrilled to be collaborating with H and M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H and M and Versace fans everywhere," says Donatella Versace.

Mulberry Pre Collection Spring Summer 2012

OOOOh I do like to be beside the seaside, oooooh I do like to be beside the sea.......

The quintessentially British brand Mulberry for the Spring Summer Pre Collection has a cheeky nod to the British Seaside holiday. The seasonal prints go from strength to strength with Bonkers Beach a Mulberry take on retro seaside postcard and Stripy Straws inspired by the candy rock. Other inspirations come via Donkey rides, arcades and seaside piers. So lets check out the collection.

The most obvious place to start is with the classics, above is the beloved Bayswater in soft buffalo with patent leather accents it will be available in Oak and the new Seaside inspired colour: Fudge.

Next up is the Alexa Silky Snake in Pebbled beige, another new shade for the season. The Silky Snake leather effect is a beautiful finish were the leather is hand cut to give the appearance of exotic skins without the sky high price tag or maintenance it was first shown in the pre fall collection (hitting stores now). The Spring Summer Silky Snake features a new larger scale.

Effie's signature detail is a large embossed Mulberry tree.

If I can tear you attention away from Effie for a moment you may want to check out those Gems shoes, inspired by the twinkling Pier lights and embellished with gemstones. I'll admit I was taken by surprise at the new additions to the Louis Vuitton Denim line, I had mistakenly believed it was unofficially discontinued (I don't really count those colourful things since they were a run on from the show bags).

The new Denim Daily bag is a hobo style bag with two size options, the Daily GM is available in pale blue (bleu clair) or deep ~~black~~ dyed blue denim (gris bleu) and features two external pockets.

I am no means a green person, I think I probably own two green items in my whole wardrobe, however I can honestly say Cabbage Green is a beautiful colour. Gucci Smilla Bag

I know winter is probably not something you want to even think about right now but the bag I'm about to show you a beautiful new offering from Gucci for their Fall Winter season.

Smilla small in Winter Leaf

The Smilla is a smooth, warm hued leather collection comprising of three styles. The smallest member of the family is features a long chain strap (50cm drop for those who are interested) and antiqued gold hardware. The chain is removable making it suitable for use as a clutch also.

The medium Smilla bag features a double top handle and adjustable shoulder strap which is again removable, the bag features a snap closure like it's smaller sister and the signature horsebit hardware is used this time in relation to the handles.

Gucci's Unicef bag for 2011

As is now tradition Gucci have unveiled a new bag for Unicef. The off white cotton linen tote features an open top with three internal compartments, two external side pockets and additional external zippered pocket. The utilitarian tote is given a colour boost with the signature green and red web handles and brown leather details.

The tote retails for £695 and 25% of the sales will go to Unicef and will be available for purchase until the 15th June 2011. To purchase the please visit the Gucci Website were the bag is sold exclusively.

Louis Vuitton Ailleurs - Meet the Artist.

Pippa Cunningham is the wonderful artist behind the new Louis Vuitton Ailleurs collection (check out my previous posting here). After my last post on the new collection Pippa got in touch and was sweet enough to answer a few questions on her work, working with Vuitton and the collection it's self.

Pippa has worked with Louis Vuitton previously on the 2008 Cruise collection that featured her St Tropez print's on a number of items the pièce de résistance being the Galliera bag, perhaps my opinion is a little bias there as I actually own this bag and love to break it out in the summer sunshine.

Pippa graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1994 and has completed many commissions for important clients as well as public exhibitions and magazine illustrations, so lets get to know a little more about Pippa Cunningham......

Did you always know you wanted to pursue a career in art?

I studied printed textiles at the Royal College of Art, my paintings at first were the starting point for my textile designs.

What drove you to paint originally?

Fashion, Textiles and pattern have always been a love and fascination.

Did Vuitton choose from existing works you had created or commission something new with a specific theme in mind? (if it was commission how much free rein did you have?)

Travel was the core inspiration to the Ailleurs collection, I wanted to do something that bought that element and freshness. I worked with the team at LV and was given a brief which I find works really well and helps me to focus.

Could you tell us a little about your inspiration behind the Ailleur collection?

For the Ailleurs collection at the beginning of the commission I was invited to visit the Louis Vuitton Archives and Museum in Paris, which was absolutely amazing. I was very interested in Gaston Vuitton`s collection of travel stickers (used on the trunks from hotels) bought back from travels around the world.

How long did it take you to create each print and how long has it taken to produce the collection from start to finish?

The paintings for the Ailleurs collection were made in Miami last January, one on the grass by Ocean Drive, the other of Miami beach from my hotel balcony. I love painting from high up looking down on great views.
Miami is a fantastic place to paint, the colours and light are beautiful there. For the jungle painting I went to Kampong Gardens and Miami Zoo where I did lots of little paintings. The final jungle piece was finished in my studio in Brighton.

You're obviously passionate about traveling if you could be anywhere in the world right now where would you go?

I love shoes, I love jewellery so the two together sounds like a winning combination to me.

Gucci Fiat 500

There are two special Italian anniversaries this year, the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and Gucci's 90th anniversary so to celebrate Gucci has collaborated with another Italian icon (Fiat) to release a special limited edition Fiat Cinquecento (Fiat 500).

The "500 by Gucci" is due to be released in the UK in July and will be available in white and black (estimated at £15,000). To help pass the time until it's release date Gucci have also released a matching range of limited edition accessories. Something to get excited about....

Firstly dear reader's let me apologise for my sporadic posting lately, unfortunately we've had some personal issues to deal with which are ongoing but I promise to do better with the return to regular service.

With that being said shopping hasn't been high on my priorities of late and then the other day I spotted an advert on facebook that was a little something to get excited about. That something is Upper Street.

Upper Street is a website that allows you to design your own SHOES!!! There are so many options to choose from I literally spent hours trying different colours, styles, materials some with sparkles some with studs. Once you have finished your design if you don't want to purchase it right away you can save it to your own collection of designs and go back to purchase or edit at a later date.

It can be a little overwhelming on where to start (there are a LOT of options) so be sure to check out the Inspiration section for some idea's. From the designs I played with prices seemed to range between £195 - £295.

You go as crazy or neutral as you like.

I haven't yet taken the plunge and ordered any shoes, that's the problem when you have so much choice you can't decide but when I do I'll be sure to show them. Has anyone used Upper street yet?

Christopher Kane Neon Lace at Net-A-Porter

If there were only one item from a Spring Summer show's that you were guaranteed to see make an apperance in the magazines then the Christopher Kane neon leather lace would have to be it. The bright neon leather laser cut in a traditional lace design has revitalised the lace trend that has been hanging around for a while and even carried over into some of the recent fall winter shows all though the colour palette was of course a little different.

Embracing the technological side of fashion Mulberry have released a short video that takes six of the campaign images and literally brings them to life. Using cutting edge techniques the flowers blooms while the models and piglet move amongst them capturing the ethereal dreamlike theme behind the collection.

Three of the bags showcased in the campaign are the recently released Blue Denim Tillie. Shown in the Tillie, Oversized Tillie and drawstring shoulder style the denim bags are a lightweight summer-y alternative to a leather bag.

The Trend File - Romantic Florals

With Spring flowers starting to pop up all around now seems like a good time to look at the big floral trend for Spring/Summer 2011.
This years floral trend is, to say the least diverse with everything from exotic flowers and dramatic prints to delicate country wildflowers covered. For this post I focused on the delicate end of the spectrum and have brought together a few ideas for Romantic Florals.

Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 - The Bags

Since the Louis Vuitton fall winter show 2011 debuted yesterday I have spent a little time running over (and over and over) the picture of the collection and have compiled some images of the various bag themes that were shown.

Although so far unconfirmed this collection of bags is thought to be monogram embroidered rubber which would fit well with the fetish theme running through the show. The rubber bags seemed to be the largest story of the show with two differing versions as some bags had a lady like frame opening others a simple zip top. The dark colour palette of gray, black, navy was given a lift of colour by bronze, mustard and white bags. It could be lighting but some of the bags appear to be a matt rubber where as others seem to have a high shine almost metallic shimmer.

In direct contrast are the Shearling bags, some in a harlequin design others in a solid uniform colour (looking not unlike a skinned teddy bear).

Another large collection in the show was the exotic skins, the first style reported by WWD to be waxed python has contrasting leather trims and a high shine finish, all bar one. In the centre of the image you can see a black lockit shape this one bag appears to have a brushed finish rather a wax shine.

The second skin used was Alligator in deep rich metallic hues. Rich Ruby red, Enchanting Emerald green, Sparkling snow white and sexy sleek black lockits where all accented with golden chains and bracelets to add an extra edge of fetish.
One of the black clutch lockits appears to the addition of diamonds to its hard wear surely making this one of the les extraordinaires for the show.

Speaking of les extraordinaires I believe these could be the other pieces, les extraordinaires pieces are produced in very small numbers in exquisite materials of the two bags shown below the one at the top of the image is Guipure lace made to look plastic the second bag shown on the bottom is 18k GOLD.

As you can probably tell by this point the Louis Vuitton show featured a huge amount of bags but hang on in there we're almost at the end.

Next up is a rather small collection of simple smooth leather, should these bags make it into production I expect it'll do well it's a simple elegant leather bag the white has a little more oomph than the black due to it's contrasting patent accents but given it's bright white colour will be a little more high maintenance.

It is important to remember that despite there being a vast collection of bags shown many will not make it into production, there are a variety of reasons taken into account when this decision is made. The next bag I don't think will make the cut, this is only my personal opinion based on the fact that there where only two of them in the entire show and that Vuitton have made satin bags in the past that are now discontinued.

Finally what's a Vuitton show without the Monogram. The classic monogram is a coated canvas that can appear shiny when photographed however the bags show yesterday seem to go above and beyond the regular shine and appear to have the appearance of being varnished

No matter which bags make the cut one thing is for certain, the Lockit is Queen for Fall Winter 2011.

The day after the devetsating earthquake hit Christchurch, New Zealand a group of expats now living in London sprung into action. In conjunction with the Red Cross We Love CHCH rallied international designers and other big brand companies to donate items for a prize draw.

For each £10 donated to the cause you'll get 1 entry to the draw, prizes include

We’re so proud of and grateful to the British public for being so generous. We hope to spread the word further and do as much as we can for our special city.”

Louis Vuitton Ailleurs - Summer 2011 collection.

In the last couple of years Louis Vuitton has released a small range of bags in the summer with a strong summer/holiday feeling this years collection is called "Ailleurs" and features three very different fun prints with a tropical theme.

Since spotting these bag's in a preview pic a few months ago I have been eagerly awaiting news of this collection. The three prints are called ‘Promenade‘, ‘Escale‘ and ‘Aventure‘ and will be available in two sizes.


Louis Vuitton Escale canvas tote

Escale features a watercolour style image of a beach scene complete with a palm tree fringed shore and blue cloudless skies.

Louis Vuitton Aventure canvas tote

Aventure journeys into the jungle with watercolour leafy green foliage and playful monkeys in the tree's.

Louis Vuitton Promenade canvas tote

Promenade captures the scene of a busy beach side resort.

Complimenting accessories for the Escale and Promenade totes include silk square scarves, a bag charm and for Promenade a beach towel. The Escale bag charm features a stripy beach hut, Promenade's has a palm tree.

The Aventure jungle print will be used on a range of ready to wear clothing to include a strapless dress and two piece bikini. Finally there will be two pairs of strappy leather and cork wedge shoes available in either green or blue shades to match the prints.

The Louis Vuitton Ailleurs collection is scheduled for release on the 15th April.

John Galliano suspended from Dior.

John Galliano, creative director of Dior has been suspended from his position in the company pending an investigation into his arrest on Friday.

Galliano was arrested for assault and is suggested to have made antisemitic comments to the couple involved. The altercation is said to have taken place at La Perle in the Marais district, the historic centre of the jewish district in Paris. In France making antisemitic remarks is punishable by up to six months in prison.

Sleek Magazine report's an apparent eye witness account of the altercations which differs slightly from the reports and claims it was the couple that instigated the problem, their full statement can be read here

In the last few hours Dior have issued a statement announcing the suspension of Galliano "Dior affirms with the utmost conviction its policy of zero tolerance towards any anti-Semitic or racist words or behaviour," said Dior chief executive Sidney Toledano "Pending the results of the inquiry, Christian Dior has suspended John Galliano from his responsibilities."

Bad news for a fashion house presenting it's new collection on the 4th March.

Mulberry Fall Winter 2011 -2012

Just a couple of days ago Mulberry unveiled it's 2011 Fall Winter collection extending on the Woodland/Hedgerow theme from the Pre Fall Collection. Firstly I should mention I am a big fan of the Pre Fall collection so I was really happy to see theme continue from strength to strength.

The first look to hit the runway was a gold lamé pleated maxi dress, now I know you are probably thinking gold lamé really?? Really!! It actually works take a look below it's the prefect party dress but look it also works with duffel coat! will wonders ever cease.

With my second look here I will say I'm not crazy about the top love the colour but my issue is high necklines tend to make me look frumpy however I adore that skirt. The print is based on bird's feather's, the rich colours and shimmering fabric make it look almost like a foil print.

The next dress below definitely needs closer inspection, from the distance photograph it almost looks a little like a print however on close up you discover the most fabulous quilted dress (I imagine it's also super cosy) which is just covered in flowers of the same colour

The hedgerow influence becomes all the more apparent when you take a closer look at the some of the prints from the collage of feather patterns (below) to the assortment of British birds (above) on some of the pieces in the Pre Fall collection you'll also find tone on tone prints of fox heads (after The Fantastic Mr Fox the collection's muse)

Although majority of the collection features darker autumnal shades there is the occasional pop of colour in the form of the Cabbage Green and Foxglove Pink both of which are amazing colours and features on bags and shoes as well as the clothing, trust me you'll want to take a closer a look at them once their release date arrives the pictures don't really do the shades justice.

My New York Fashion Week Favourites

You'll probably discover as you scroll down through my favourite pieces from New York Fashion week that I adore dresses, in reality you are more likely to find me in jeans or trousers but I can't resist the allure of a fabulous gown.

One of my favourite collections from NY Fashion week is from Jenny Packham, although this is the Fall Winter collection the dresses are extremely light whispy chiffon or tulle but then I guess warmth is not your main concern when you look this fabulous.

Next up is Marchesa, influenced with gothic-victoriana the Marchesa collection showcased the colours trends you will be seeing a lot more of in the coming fall: Red, Black, White and Nude.

If I had to choose one word for the Monique Lhuillier collection it would be elegant. The collection was filled with one beautiful piece after another, I choose three to post below but I could have added a whole lot more.

Prabal Gurung cited his inspiration for the collection as Miss Havisham from Great Expectations, interestingly the same reference was cited by Marchesa one of other favourites. Although it's has been on trend for a couple of seasons now don't expected Lace to be going away any time soon it was featured in a number of Fall collections including this one.

Ralph Lauren used the 1930's and the Art Deco's period love of Oriental design to shape the collection. Unlike Spring Summer where the Oriental influence is rather obvious Lauren's is subtle with just a hint of Jade green or glossy red to lift the black and white colour palette.

Fendi Valentines Collection 2011

Now I know Valentines day is tomorrow but there's still time to pick up one of the cute pieces from the Fendi Valentines collection. The small leather goods collection shows the traditional Fendi canvas perforated with small hearts to show off the red layer underneath.

To match the Valentines collection you can also pick up an adorable pair of ballerina's with the same perforated hearts detail.

Alternatively there are two other styles of ballerina's with embroided heart details along the shoe with a solid metallic heart detail on the toe cap.

In addition to the small leather goods and sweet ballerina shoes there are a couple of pieces of costume jewellery and keyring/bag charm that have also been released. The gold toned bracelet, necklace and bag charm feature discs with the words "Love You" cut out and the double FF Fendi logo.

Christian Louboutin Miss Rope

As a general rule of thumb when someone is particularly famous for designing/creating one certain item, for this example shoes, I tend to feel they should stick with what they know best but as with every rule there are always exceptions.

One such exception to my personal rule is the Christian Louboutin Miss Rope Capra leather bag, a medium sized (34cm x 26cm x 13cm) textured leather bag with that all important signature Louboutin red lining. With the addition of wrap round molded accents finished with a pushlock closure, it's the details that make the difference.

Miss Rope is available in two colour options; the classic black and the beautiful taupe (my favourite of the two) each bag is complete with a long strap for shoulder carrying and a molded top handle.

Mulberry Love Blossoms

Louis Vuitton Monogram Idylle Rhapsodie and Fantaisie

The Louis Vuitton Idylle collection is one of the smallest line's in the Vuitton catalogue but it recently got a little larger with three new additions.

Starting with the Idylle Rhapsodie PM, the smallest new bag is a light shoulder friendly model softly pleated and trimmed with matching calf leather accents. The Rhapsodie PM is availble in Encre and Sepia and retails for £595.

Also in the Rhapsodie range is a larger (MM) size that has the added benefit of being a cross body bag. Please note that the Louis Vuitton Monogram Idylle is a range that you need to take a little care over, the lighter shades are susceptible to colour transfer or rub off from dark coloured/deep dyed clothing.

Mulberry Pre Collection A/W 2011

Last week I was lucky enough to get a peek at the Mulberry Pre Collection AW 2011, typically I am in no hurry for winter to arrive but this collection is so fabulous I'm actually looking forward to next A/W already. I've picked out a few of my favourite looks to share with you all.

The theme for the A/W Pre Collection is English Countryside, running through out the collection are rich Autumnal shades and cosy, effortlessly stylish pieces. Not only is the collection filled with gorgeous individual items but they are so beautifully designed they offer complete versatility.

The colours of nature were not the only inspiration, hedgerow inhabitants were also called upon. "Feathered Friends" is stunning print focusing on the beauty of feathers in all colours and textures. The print showcased in natural colourways as pictured above and also in the little more dramatic metallic for evening wear as shown below, equally as beautiful which ever you chose.

Mulberry bag fans will be happy to see the classics (Bayswater, Daria, Mitzy and Alexa) in a new range of colours, one of my favourites being the Midnight Blue Suede embossed with a mixed Crocodile and Reptile print.

Of course there are also new additions to the Mulberry bag family, one of which is Harper.
Harper's inspiration came from a classic vintage bag and has been given a new lease of life with double chain wrapped handles, Postman's lock closures on a external front flap pocket and sophisticated, luxurious materials. Make you sure you look out for the Croc Nappa, a soft nappa leather with delicate Crocodile patterned texture.

Whether you're a dress or a jeans girl you'll be spoilt for choice, in fact the only thing that disappoints me is that I can't buy it now.

You know the day does not bode well when the first thing you are faced with your laptop's failure to cooperate. At this moment I have commandeered a friends laptop to let you that I am experiencing some technical issues right now but with some luck (and probably a whole load of coffee and words unsuitable for broadcast) normal service will resume as soon as possible, hopefully it won't take long as later this week I'll have some great new pictures for you.

I'll be back as soon as I get my laptop working again, or I have reached my limit thrown it out the window and had to buy a new one which ever happens first.

Mary Portas aka Mary Queen of Shops is my shopping heroine.
Having just watched her new show Mary Portas: Secret Shopper (Wednesday 9pm Chanel 4) I had to come and blog because I could not agree with her more.

Customer service on the high street is dire, it no great secret but it's also something that nothing is ever really done about. In a time when headlines are dominated with tales of job losses, closures and general financial doom and gloom the high street needs every single penny it can get. For the customer, with their own worries and concerns, when they do decide to spend to their hard earned cash the experience should be a pleasure not another source of frustration.

The general corporate solution to concerns of a customer service nature is to send in the "Secret Shopper", however the Secret Shopper mission generally has such regimented criteria that their experience does not reflect that of the true shoppers. Good customer service is not bombarding people at the till with suggestions of store cards, magazines, mobile phone top up's, chocolate bars etc etc it's being friendly, it's offering help, it's a please and a thank you and ultimately it's really not that hard.

Well dear readers enough is enough and here's how you can help.

If you are a twitter user then simply tweet about your customer service experience and add #secretshopper to your tweet.
Alternatively you can also become a real Secret Shopper on the Mary Portas: Secret Shopper page just like the page and add your experiences there (don't forget to add I'll Take Both to like's while you're there!)

If you are looking for a new city or work bag then you should seriously consider taking a closer look at Tillie, at current there are four colour/material options; Black or Chestnut matte leather, Powder Beige Sparkle tweed and Light Peach calf hair. Admittedly the latter two wouldn't be my first choice for a work bag although I do love the rose gold hard wear and think they'd be beautiful casual summer day bags.

Spring Summer Campaigns Hit the Mags

I love the first run of new ad campaigns and tend to spend as long pouring over all the little details as I do on the actual magazine's articles. I used to cut them out and save them but that habit quickly got out of control and I'm not trying appear on an episode of Hoarders.
When the latest edition of Elle dropped through my letterbox and had the new ad campaigns in I couldn't wait to share them (plus putting them online feed's my hoarding habit without actually living under piles of paper).

To a shoe addict there are many styles that can be considered works of art, some so precious you'd rather display them then wear them.

Nicholas Kirkwood has taken the Shoe as Art concept a little further by actually adorning shoes with art by the late artist Keith Haring.

Working with the Keith Haring Foundation, a charity established in 1989 to assist AIDS-related and Children's charities, Kirkwood has created 12 styles including his first ever ballet pump which will be available from February.

Louis Vuitton Leopard Scarves 2011. UPDATE

A little while ago I showed you the next group of Leopard Scarves from Louis Vuitton, however with this release there is a little change to the regular product.

In previous years the Leopard Scarves (etole) were a blend of cashmere and silk, the new releases will actually be Pareo's and are made completely from cotton.

This change is reflected in the price with the New Leopard Pareo's retailing for £285 v's the Etole at £475-£545 and even more for the Bond Street editions.

So what do you think? Will the change in material make you want the scarf more? or less?

Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2011

Louis Vuitton took a trip to the 1920's in the latest Pre-Fall collection, clothing featured the use of mixed materials including anything from Silk to Sheepskin and Sequins to Tweed.
Unless there are images not yet released the 2011 Pre-Fall seems a little smaller than in recent years with only three bags shown again featuring mixed materials in a somber colour palette.

Exclusively to the newly renovated Gucci Rue Royale store in Paris the "New Jackie" has been created in very limited numbers in a new soft grey shade and two leather choices. The Grey Ostrich New Jackie is the more limited of the two with only 6 created, the second leather is Deer skin and is limited to 30 pieces, matching wallets are also available.

In addition to the two bags a special scarf has also been created for the store.

And if all that isn't enough to celebrate, the Rue Royale store is also home to Europe's only dedicated Made-To-Order service for the New Bamboo bag.

On December 14th Mulberry held it's opening party to celebrate the move from King St. Guests nibbled on mini fish and chips, burgers and Victoria sponge cakes while Daisy Lowe, Sunday Girl and Ellie Goulding performed.

Guests received a good bag filled with treats and Mulberry vouchers and three very lucky (and I'm guessing very, very happy) guests walked away with a new Edie bag from the Spring Summer 2011 collection (more on this later) after a prize draw, talk about perfect end to the evening!

Guest's also received a helium balloon in the shape of the Bayswater, a miniature version of huge inflatable Bayswater currently residing in the window of the London Flagship.

Lee Angel statement jewels.

The Outnet this week are having a great up to 70% off sale on statement jewelry, there are a lot of beautiful pieces but the one's that caught my eye repeatedly came from Lee Angel.

Louis Vuitton Leopard Scarves 2011.

One item from Louis Vuitton certain to get fashionista's adrenalin pumping is the Leopard Scarf. Each year a number of new colours are added to the Leopard range and they tend to sell so quickly they don't even hit the store shelves.

For early 2011 there will be three beautiful new additions: Rouge Fauviste, Blanc Corail, Bleu Infinite.

The Rouge Fauviste features a cranberry and teal spot on a dark Rouge Fauviste background, Blanc Corail is a creamy white background covered in hot pink/burgundy spot and finally the Blue Infinite a pale spot with teal underneath on a dark deep blue background.

I seriously can not decide which is my favourite of the bunch, which is yours?

The newly released Louis Vuitton Cruise collection for 2011 seems to perfectly capture the very essence of summer with just a hint of vintage charm the combination of which grants the bags an ageless quality.

Monogram Sabbia features four new bags in a sandy cotton jacquard weave and contrasting leather accents, although not all colours are available in all styles.
Pictured above is the Louis Vuitton Monogram Sabbia Cabas GM, the larger of the two totes can be worn on the shoulder or carried by hand. One of the most noticeable difference between the two Cabas bags is that the GM version also features an additional floral decoration on the front of the bag. 'Tis the season to be...British?

One of my favourite Christmas events is putting up the tree, our tree follows the random sentimental ornaments design rather than the uniform colour theme and my partner and I are always on the look out for the next cute bauble to add to the tree.

The Little London Christmas Tree Decorations from Aspinal has got to be five of the cutest Christmas decorations I have seen this year. The individual blown glass and hand painted ornaments have that vintage bauble feel I recall from my Gran's tree when I was just a young girl.

Featuring a miniature Big Ben, a Red Phone box, Black Taxi cab, a Double Decker Bus and a Grenadier Guard the Little London set would make a wonderful gift for Anglophiles.

Lanvin for H&M- Launch Day

As you may remember from the post just a few short weeks ago that the Lanvin for H&M collection launched today.

The collection launched online at 7am and to say it's been a success well, that would probably be an understatement. The picture below is a screen shot from the online store and was taken at around 1pm.

The other seven pages tell the same story. Vogue.com reported a queue of 200 people waiting for the launch at the Regent Street store with the lady at the front arriving at 8:45pm the previous day.

Don't worry if you missed out at the store or online, in the last five hours there have been 203 new Lanvin related Ebay auctions listed so if there is a piece you truely need you do have that as an option.

Mulberry Metallic Tiger Bayswater

As I don't have a Mulberry store near me I have been patiently waiting (and regularly checking) the online store for a beautiful Astracan Printed Bayswater I saw at the F/W 2010 Press day to turn up online. To date that hasn't happened but today's check did bring up a rather pleasent new discovery.

In a change from the now omnipresent leopard prints, Mulbery have taken a Tiger print and given it a big twist!
The leather Bayswater has a Champagne coloured background with a high shine chrome tiger strip for instant wow

The Metallic Tiger Bayswater features all the classic elements of the Bayswater in a very unique print, I could be wrong but I don't think I've ever seen a bag quite like it.
Internally the Metallic Tiger is lined in suede (just watch out those pens and loose make up ladies) and features three pockets, it retails for £850 and is available now.

Louis Vuitton Altaïr Clutch

Since the success of the Vuitton Limelight clutch in 2007 (can you believe it was that long ago?!) the slouchy clutch bag has gone from strength to strength. Now 3 years on Louis Vuitton are bringing you a successor to the crown of most coveted clutch in the form of the Altaïr.

The Altaïr Clutch takes the essence of the Limelight and add's a hint of the Motard style, finish that off with a golden twist lock closure and you have one hot bag.

Internally the Altaïr is very simple, this large, easy access bag has one large pocket for storing small items or things you need to reach quickly. It also has a D-ring this is often used for securing keys however in this instance it comes with a removable mirror attached to it.

Retailing at £1110 the Altaïr clutch is available in two colours, a classic black or a beautiful bronze.

I don't think an item to date has had such a style revival as that of the scarf. The humble scarf went from keeping you warm in winter to never be seen with out one no matter if it's rain or shine.

This evening Amanda Wakeley unveiled an all new collection of must have scarves, there are twelve designs within the range and with Christmas coming they will make the perfect gift for yourself or others.

The twelve piece collection is inspired by the Zodiac and along with an image to symbolise the sign it is graffiti'd with personality traits attributed to them, the scarves retail for £195 and are available for pre-order now.

Lanvin for H&M

H & M, the pioneers of the high street high fashion collaboration are set to launch their next collection, this time with fashion house Lanvin, on 23rd November 2010.

Unlike previous collections the Lanvin collaboration will be unveiled to the public by a special film on the 2nd November, this gives you 3 weeks to select your must have pieces and formulate a shopping stategy.

DKNY Cozy - The worlds best cardigan.

High on my list of wardrobe essentials is the DKNY Cozy, if you haven't seen the Cozy before then you are seriously missing out.

The DKNY Cozy is a long cardigan that can be worn in 12 different ways, it even has it's own iphone app to help you with the style.

So in love with the cozy I currently have 6 colours although that doesn't stop me wanting more. Net-A-Porter has begun to receive some on the new 2010 Cozy models and they are fab.

My current Cozy's are all one block colour with no decorations but as you know I do like a bit of sparkle which is why my first pick is the beautiful Navy blue wool with shimmering black bead embellishment wrap cardigan. This cardigan will probably look best in some of the more un-done styles are other wise you'll lose the bead details in the wrap.

My second pick has that real winter's day wrapped up warmth look to it just with a bit of glitz thrown in for good measure. The multi colour patch Cozy is 100% merino wool and covered with glittering silver sequins sections. I'm sure this one will look great worn in any of the 12 ways.

No that is not a typo. Fashion is about to curl up with a coffee, slap on a face pack and melt a few credit cards. On November 1st from 5pm to midnight some of the internet's biggest etailers are coming together to celebrate the love of shopping.

The Fashion's Night In event is, like it's big sister, hosted by Vogue and on the night Vogue journalists will be taking to Vogue.com and twitter to help you get the very best out of Fashion's Night In.

The event will host a number of live shows, styling ideas, competitions, beauty tips and exclusive collections! Participants currently include NET-A-PORTER, ASOS, Matches Space.NK, Browns and My-Wardrobe.

Jean Paul Gaultier Furniture Collection

While killing some time flicking through a magazine in a waiting room I stumbled across a rather interesting advertisement.

The advert in question featured a new line of furniture created for Roche Bobois by Jean Paul Gaultier. The collection is filled with signature Gaultier from the Sailor stripes and Tattoo's to Corsets and sensual old school glamour.

Some pieces of the collection are limited editions of 250 this includes the leather storage cabinet and the mirrored wardrobe that reminds me a little of a magicians cabinet.

The Jean Paul Gaultier collection has a little something for everything if you want a unique impact piece then perhaps the modular sofa is perfect for you, I love the classic Kiss image on one of the seats. On the other hand maybe you just want a little accent piece? Choose one of the stunning pillows or the sailor striped rug.

If you want the truely unusal then check out the movers trolley mirror or the velvet chariot armchair.

Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2011 - First Glimpse

As I'm sure you will be aware the Louis Vuitton runway show has just been live streamed across the world through Facebook and later this evening they will be updating the page with 360 degree views of the outfits. However I can't wait that long to share some of the beautiful pieces with you!!

My first thoughts were if I didn't already know I was watching the LV show I don't think I would have been able to guess. There are so absolutely gorgeous prints in the collection especially the orchid one's I am not so crazy on the Giraffe suit (you'll see what I mean later).

Quite a few Mandarin collars on dresses and jackets and pretty much every fabric sparkles even the bags if you look close enough.

Sensing a little bit of a Gucci feel to this bag above, this is one of the very few styles that was not a clutch bag and all bags shown are on the smaller side.

Hand it over and nobody get's hurt! I love this one even though it will hold nothing.

A smattering of LV logo's walked the runway they were most prominent on the LV lace skirts and fans (love it) and adorned a selection of the bags.

From what I see I love the collection however when it comes to purchasing the collection I think once I have gotten over the initial excitement my choices may be some what limited.
There are a LOT of clutches and personally I can't really work with a clutch for day use and I have more than enough already to cover my evening use.
Once the collection is filtered to what will make production and what will not I hope there will be a few larger bags to choose from. Interestingly enough there is not one traditional Louis Vuitton shaped bag in the collection so far, that's right no Speedies!

Christian Dior Spring Summer 2011

I love, love, loved the Christian Dior Couture collection, inspired by flowers it was colourful it was dramatic well it was everything I love. With that given I had high hopes for the Spring Summer Dior Ready to Wear and I'm not disappointed.

Although the collection has floral notes it is not as heavily influenced by the couture as collections often are but it retains that great summer holiday feel.

In a Pin Up girl/South Pacific flair models walked the runway in hawaiian influenced sundresses, sailor pants, crisp white parkas then just throw on a bright lei and sailor cap and you are done.

A touch of the Tulip influence for this dress.

Contrasting colours big news for next season

My favourite evening dress.

The shoes and bags range from the simple, low slung sailor bags, to the elaborate, woven leather heels with hula influenced ankle decorations.

I adore these boots.

Lady Dior's are recreated in new leather colours, patterned ink blot styles, colourful pythons and raffia embroided designs.

Dior Libertine

Dior Libertine in Petal.

The bag above is the new Dior Libertine which at first look reminds me of a Shar Pei puppy. Please don't take that as an insult I think Shar Pei's with their soft pleated wrinkles are beautiful, a sentiment I pretty much echo for the Libertine.

The Libertine is a soft draped lambskin leather that could be shoulder or hand carried by it's braided handle. It is spacious enough to hold all your daily essentials with generous dimensions of 37cm x 34cm x 11cm. However to help keep the bag organised is has three pockets one which is zippered for those items you need close at hand for security the bag closes with a press stud.

Libertine on the Runway.

Libertine is currently available in four colours:- Petal, Black, Hazel and a Dark Mocha Brown and all retail for £1650. Each features golden hardwear, the design of which has been borrowed from a 1950 Dior belt.

Mulberry Spring Summer 2011 - Bag Close Ups

Hi Guys and Girls I'm back! I've been absent for a few weeks while I took a fab sunshine break and boy do I feel like I have a lot to catch up on. First off I missed Fashions Night Out which I hear was a blast secondly were already a couple of weeks into Runway Season.

So far I haven't seen much of the shows and unfortunately I just couldn't work out flights to get me back in time for those I had invites to. Thankfully Mulberry kindly sent me pics from their show so even though I'm still getting over my jetlag I have some bag candy to drool over.

So lets take a look at what Mulberry have to offer for Spring Summer 2011.

Firstly the colour palette is beautiful there is pretty much something for everyone from your traditional chestnut, glitzy gold, sumptuous purple, striking blue and my personal favourite the delicious vanilla caramel tones

The bags are super functional with satchel styles and shrunken versions of the classics with the added benefit of shoulder straps the other important thing to note is bags are of a medium size. Those on the smaller side are still larger enough you don't have to compromise what you carry and the larger bags are not so larger that it takes you five minutes to dig your purse out.

At the moment I don't have a whole lot of info on the new bags but be sure to keep checking back I'll update you when I know something.
